Russia believes that the United States is interfering in Bangladesh’s internal affairs around the parliamentary elections.
A post in this regard was made on the official Facebook page of the Russian Embassy on Wednesday (November 22).
In that post, the spokesperson of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova, was quoted as saying, “Although transparent, impartial and participatory elections are said, the United States and its allies are influencing the internal political process of Bangladesh behind the scenes. This effort of the United States and its allies is repeatedly exposed by Russia.
It also mentions that at the end of last October, the US Ambassador to Bangladesh, Peter Haas, met with a member of the opposition party to plan an anti-government rally. Such activities are interference in internal affairs.
Earlier, US Ambassador Peter Haas said on September 21 that Bangladesh is maintaining balance in relations with the US, China, Russia, India and other countries. It is a very difficult matter. However, Washington has no problem with the nuclear deal Bangladesh has with Russia and the deals it is making with India.
