The President paid tribute to the best children of the nation by laying wreaths at the Martyr Intellectuals Memorial in Mirpur of the capital. Sahabuddin and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
They paid tribute on Thursday (December 14) at seven o’clock in the morning on Martyr Intellectuals Day.
After laying wreaths at the memorial, the President and Prime Minister stood in silence for a while. At this time, the bugle played a sad tune. Besides paying respect to the martyrs, a guard of honor was given by a smart team of 3 forces.
After that, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, as Awami League president, along with the top leaders of the party, laid wreaths at the martyr’s mausoleum and paid tribute again.
After paying respects at the Martyrs’ Memorial, the President exchanged greetings with the war-victims, freedom fighters and family members of the martyrs. Sahabuddin and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. After the President and Prime Minister paid their respects, people from all walks of life laid wreaths at the intellectual memorial.
The family members of the martyred intellectuals and freedom fighters also paid their respects. Apart from various political, social and cultural organizations, students of schools and colleges of the capital also paid their respects at the memorial.
According to the history of the liberation war, on 14th December, 1971, the elite heroes of this country were killed on the verge of victory.
