Today (January 24) is the historic mass uprising day. The mass uprising of 1969 took place in the context of the famous 6-point program of the National Liberation Charter and later the 11-point program given by the student society on behalf of the liberating oppressed people.

From the city to the remote areas of rural Bengal, millions of hardworking people resound with the thunderous voice of the 11-point must be brought. The hope of liberation was in the eyes of the people. There were processions and processions on the way. The students of Bengal rose up against Ayub Khan. The dictatorial government retreated on January 24 after a week-long protest. Since 1970, this day is being celebrated as People’s Uprising Day, keeping the memory of that day.

On the occasion of celebrating the day, President Md. Sahabuddin and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina gave separate messages.

In his speech, the President said, “It is a historic day in the history of Bangladesh’s independence movement and democratic progress.”

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina said in her speech, “The popular uprising of 1970 is a significant chapter in the history of Bangladesh. We have achieved great freedom through the armed liberation war following the 6-point, later 11-point, and mass upheavals of the 1970s.

Awami League program
Bangladesh Awami League will pay tribute to Shaheed Matiur Rahman at the Navkumar Institute premises in Bakshibazar at 10:30 am today on the occasion of the historic People’s Uprising Day. Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader MP requested all concerned to participate in the program.
