It said that one to two mild (36 to 38 degrees) or moderate (38 to 40 degrees Celsius) heat waves may sweep over the western and southwestern parts of the country by the end of March. Day temperature may be slightly higher than normal in this month.
According to the Meteorological Department, there is a possibility of less than normal rainfall in the country as a whole during the month of March. However, the main rivers of the country may have normal flow in this month.
The long-term forecast further states that February 2024 saw less than normal rainfall (-36 percent) across the country. However, Mymensingh and Sylhet divisions received more than normal rainfall and Dhaka, Rangpur, Rajshahi, Khulna, Barisal and Chittagong divisions received less than normal rainfall.
Forecasts are made by proper analysis of model forecasts, weather data, upper space weather patterns, analyzed weather maps of different layers of the atmosphere, climate models, SOI etc. from World Meteorological Organization approved GPCS, ECMWF, JMA, NOAA, IRI, APCC, RIMES and CTHRIS. .
