Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina called for finding a way to end the Russia-Ukraine war in a meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky. The meeting was held between them at the Hotel Bayerischer Hof on the sidelines of the Security Conference (MSC) 2024 in Munich, Germany on Saturday (February 17).

After the meeting, the Minister of Foreign Affairs. Hashan Mahmud said, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina always says that we are against all kinds of war. He also discussed how to end the Russia-Ukraine war during talks with Zelensky. In the meeting, they also discussed how to stop attacks on innocent men and women in Gaza.

The Prime Minister reminded everyone that war cannot bring good to anyone. Sheikh Hasina said, ‘Others can benefit through war. But it cannot bring welfare to the warring countries and their people have to suffer in the war.’ The foreign policy of Bangladesh: ‘friendship with all, enmity with none’ clearly emerged in the discussion between the Prime Minister and Zelensky.

In response to a question, Hasan Mahmud said that the friendly relations developed between Bangladesh and Russia during independence will not be damaged. He said, our relationship with Russia is very good. Russia stood by us during the liberation war and played a leading role in the reconstruction of Bangladesh after the war. They only negotiated for the cessation of war.

Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina arrived in Munich on February 15 evening on a three-day official visit to attend the Munich Security Conference 2024. After the visit, the Prime Minister is scheduled to arrive in Dhaka on February 19.
