‍Special operation to recover weapons started around election

Before the 12th National Assembly elections, a special operation has been started to recover illegal weapons across the country. The campaign started on Saturday (December 9) and will continue till December 31.

Instructions have been given in this regard to the Superintendents of Police (SP) of 64 districts from the police headquarters. This directive also mentions the recovery of drugs at the same time.

It has also been said that a special operation has been requested from December 9 to 31 to maintain the overall law and order situation.

Also, the details of the previous day’s operations are to be sent to the Additional DIG (Operations) at the police headquarters in Dhaka by 8 am every day. A sample form is attached for sending information regarding special operations. Meanwhile, a legal notice has been sent to the Election Commission to take necessary measures to ensure the deposit of legal weapons while conducting operations to recover illegal weapons to ensure smooth elections. Supreme Court National Lawyers Council Chairman SM Zulfikar Ali Junu sent this legal notice last Tuesday (December 5).

As per the schedule, the last date for filing nomination papers was November 30. Nomination papers are selected from 1st to 4th December. Appeals filed and disposed of before the Commission against the order of the Returning Officer from 6 to 15 December. Last date for withdrawal of candidature is 17th December. Allotment of symbols on 18th December. The election campaign will continue from December 18 to January 5 at 8 am. After that, the polling will be held on January 7.
