Shelling again at Teknaf border

On the other side of the Naf River at Teknaf border in Cox’s Bazar, the sound of gunfire is again heard from Myanmar. Since early morning on Monday (February 26), Tambru Right Camp and Huaikkhyong Unchiprang border area have been hearing loud mortar shells and gunfire from inside Myanmar.

Locals say that gunshots are coming from the Tambru Right Camp opposite the border Pillar 34 of Tambru BGB Camp area under Cox’s Bazar 34 BGB. There is fear and panic among the residents living in border areas including Tambru area of Ghumdhum Union due to the sound of gunfire.

A resident of Ghumdhum Union said that they are going out less because of fear. No one goes out except for urgent work. It is not yet confirmed if anyone was injured in the shooting incident.

Noor Mohammad Anwari, Chairman of Huaikxyong Union Parishad, said that no gunshots were heard on Teknaf Huaikxong border for a few days. However, since 10 am, mortar shells and gunfire have been heard again. This has spread panic among the residents of the border.
