Cristiano Ronaldo has been banned for one match in the Saudi Pro League for making bad gestures towards spectators. He will also have to pay a fine of 30,000 Saudi Riyals.
The decision was made by the Disciplinary and Ethics Committee of the Saudi Football Federation on Wednesday.
There is no appeal against the ban. Which means, the 39-year-old Portuguese star will not be able to play in Al Nasr’s next match. The Saudi Football Federation will have to pay 10,000 riyals as a fine. And 20,000 riyals to Al-Shabaab for the cost of preparing the complaint. The committee said that there is no opportunity to appeal against the verdict.
Ronaldo’s team’s next match in the league is today. He was named in the squad for the match against Al Hazem. However, after the verdict, the five-time Ballon d’Or winner has no chance to play in the match at home.
After playing in Saudi Arabia, Ronaldo lost his temper several times after getting upset with the behavior of the crowd. The Saudi Arabian media outlet Ar-Riyadiya reported that the Disciplinary and Ethics Committee of the Saudi Football Federation asked Ronaldo for an explanation of the incident that day. Ronaldo told the committee that he did not behave in any way. What he did is common in European football. And he has full respect for all clubs and players.
