On the occasion of the Armed Forces Day, President Md. Sahabuddin and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. On Tuesday (November 21) morning, they paid tribute to the martyred army, navy and air force members in the liberation war by placing flowers at Shikha Anirban in Dhaka Cantonment.

The Head of State, Sahabuddin Shikha, stood in silence for some time after paying his respects to Shikha Anirban. A smart party of three forces saluted him at this time. A sad tune is played on the bugle. Later President Shikha signed the inspection book kept at Anirban Square.

After that, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina paid tribute to the martyred soldiers by lighting the flame with flowers. A smart contingent of three forces gave a guard of honor at this time. The Prime Minister also later signed the inspection book.

Earlier, the President and the Prime Minister gave separate messages around the day.

President said in the speech. Sahabuddin said that the armed forces formed through the great liberation war are a symbol of pride and confidence of the nation. On November 21, 1971, during the Great Liberation War, the three forces jointly launched an all-out attack on the Pakistani invasion forces. This combined effort of the three forces hastened our victory. So November 21 is a memorable day in the history of Bangladesh’s freedom struggle. The nation remembers the contribution and valor of the armed forces in the liberation war with deep respect.

On the other hand, Awami League President and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina commented that armed forces have become a symbol of the nation’s confidence in the message given on the occasion of the day. The head of government said that in addition to performing professional duties, armed forces are participating in any disaster response, infrastructure construction, humanitarian services, support to civil administration and various nation-building activities. The members of the armed forces are shining the image of the country in the international arena by faithfully performing their duties in the United Nations peacekeeping operations.

On the occasion of Armed Forces Day-2023, they extended their sincere greetings and congratulations to the members of the Army, Navy and Air Force and wished for the overall success of all the programs surrounding the day.

It should be noted that during the liberation war, on November 21, 1971, the members of the army, navy and air force jointly launched a coordinated attack against the occupying Pakistani forces. Every year Bangladesh observes the day as Armed Forces Day. Various programs have been undertaken throughout the day to pay tribute to the members of the armed forces who laid down their lives in the Great War of Independence.
