Awami League president Sheikh Hasina has been unanimously elected as the leader of the parliament. He was elected as the leader of parliament for the fourth consecutive time.
Sheikh Hasina was elected as the parliamentary leader in the parliamentary party meeting held after the swearing in of Awami League MPs on Wednesday (January 10).
Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader suggested his name. Noor-e-Alam Chowdhury Liton supported the proposal. Later it was accepted unanimously.
In addition to the election of the leader of the parliament, the deputy leader of the parliament was also elected in the meeting. Begum Matia Chowdhury, the deputy leader of the 11th National Parliament, has been made the deputy leader of the 12th National Parliament.
