Movement and protests are going on all over the country focusing on the upcoming 12th national elections. In such a situation, the Election Commission (EC) has launched the online nomination process. In that context, the question of when online voting will be introduced to avoid conflict in polling stations has come to the Election Commission.
On Sunday (November 12) at the Agargaon election building in the capital, the Election Commission was asked such a question by the delegation of the political parties at the inauguration ceremony of the online nomination submission system and smart election management app.
CEC Kazi Habibul Awal said, ‘Online voting; Voting at home – it has not happened anywhere in the world yet. The Chief Election Commissioner of India told me during the meeting that they are trying. I believe it will be implemented. When implemented we may be able to say whether we can do it or not. But before that we cannot give any assurance now that when the online voting system will be launched.
The Election Commission launched the Smart Election Management App before announcing the schedule for the upcoming 12th National Assembly elections. The Election Commission said that this app will play a role in breaking the electoral code of conduct, showdowns while submitting nominations, preventing opponents from submitting nominations and stop this central violence.
The chief election commissioner and other commissioners and secretaries of the commission were present at the app opening ceremony. From their statement the mentioned issues emerge.
