Online Desk, The CNN :

On the issue of labor rights, the senior secretary of the Ministry of Commerce, Tapan Kanti Ghosh, said that a situation has not arisen to impose a trade ban on Bangladesh on the issue of labor rights. He does not think that the United States will take such a decision.

He said these things at the end of the special inter-ministerial meeting to review the progress of the implementation of the national action plan related to labor rights at the Ministry of Commerce on Monday (December 4).

The United States has announced new labor policies to improve the global labor environment. Bangladesh is also working towards this goal.

The Commerce Secretary said that considerable progress has been made in the field of labor rights through the amendment of the Labor Act and the Beza Act. The United States will soon be informed of this progress. Not at the mercy of anyone, Bangladesh is exporting manufactured garments by protecting product quality, international demand and labor rights. According to the bi-annual evaluation report of the European Union, Bangladesh’s labor laws and labor rights issues have been observed. But they want more progress.

He also said that several countries including the European Union and the United States had certain conditions. The Labor Act, the Beza Act, has fulfilled much of what the US wanted. The Labor Act has been amended 3 times in the last few years.
