Jesus Christ, the founder of Christianity, was born in Bethlehem to the virgin mother Mary. Jesus came to the world to teach the faith of Christians, to spread the glory of the Creator, to free mankind from sin and to guide them to the path of truth and justice.
Like other countries in the world, the Christian community celebrates Christmas in Bangladesh with religious rituals, joyous festivals and prayers. Today is a public holiday. On the occasion of Christmas, President Md. congratulated Christians. Abdul Hamid and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
In his speech, the President said, ‘Bangladesh is a shining example of communal harmony in the world. Here people of all religions have been observing their religion, rituals and ceremonies independently. Everyone should contribute from their respective positions irrespective of caste and religion to strengthen this noble tradition of existing harmony.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina said in her speech, “The father of the nation dreamed of building a non-communal Bangladesh.” Everyone has to work unitedly to build a happy-prosperous, poverty-free and non-communal Bangladesh.
On the occasion of Christmas, all churches and star hotels in the country are decorated with Christmas trees, colorful lights, balloons and flowers. Various types of cakes, pithas and special food have been organized in hotels and families. Special prayers will be held in each church this morning.
A special Christmas prayer has been organized at Tejgaon Catholic Church (Church of the Holy Rosary) in the capital.
