Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Kazi Habibul Awal said that the expected favorable environment for the elections has not yet developed. I invited BNP for discussion. But they did not respond to our calls.
CEC said this at the beginning of the workshop with media editors on Thursday (October 26).
CEC also said that we are very sincere in resolving any crisis. We hope to host the election. Expectations were there from the beginning, but the environment for the election has not yet turned.
He said, we are calling everyone for dialogue. I have sent a semi-official letter to those who do not want to come to the polls, but have not received a response. Political strategies of political parties are their own business. They may have their own strategies. We will not practice injustice in it.
The workshop was attended by CEC along with other Election Commissioners, EC senior officials, The Daily Star Editor Mahfuz Anam, Bangladesh Daily Editor Naeem Nizam and others.
