The Intelligence Branch (DB) of Sirajganj District Police said that weapons and bullets were recovered from Raihan Sharif, a teacher of Shaheed M Mansoor Ali Medical College. Besides, he has a special attraction towards weapons. Two modern seven point five six bore pistols, 81 bullets, four magazines and 12 foreign knives were recovered from Raihan Sharif’s custody on Monday (March 4), police said. Two separate cases have been filed against the teacher.
Inspector Zulhaj Uddin of Sirajganj DB said that teacher Raihan was arrested in the case filed by the father of student Arafat Amin who was shot. After his arrest, his mobile phone was searched and many pictures of sophisticated foreign pistols downloaded from the internet were found. A raid was carried out yesterday at his Professor Garden residence on BA College Road to find out if he had more weapons. However, no new weapon was recovered from the house. Raihan Sharif was arrested yesterday in the incident of shooting the student’s leg. In the initial interrogation, he admitted that he had bought a foreign pistol for lakhs of rupees. He had a special interest in weapons. He used to download pictures of foreign pistols on the internet. Then he turned to buying foreign arms. Raihan Sharif’s WhatsApp app showed that a doctor asked him what his business was. In response, he wrote, arms trading business.
Officer-in-charge (OC) of Sirajganj Sadar police station Sirajul Islam said that two cases were filed against Raihan Sharif in the police station after 12 midnight yesterday. The plaintiff in one case is Abdullah Al Amin, father of the gunned down student Arafat Amin. In this case, he has charged his son with attempted murder and intimidation. Besides, Deputy Inspector Abdul Wadud of Sirajganj DB filed another case against Raihan Sharif under Arms Control Act.
