Brazil is going to be banned from international football. Khaleej Times mentioned that FIFA has warned that the country’s court has intervened in the football federation.
Meanwhile, in a letter to the Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF), FIFA said it must halt the move to remove Brazilian Football Federation president Ednaldo Rodriguez. No final decision can be taken now. If Rodriguez is removed in haste despite FIFA’s letter, the country’s football body may face punishment.
FIFA and CONMABLE, the South American soccer body, said a committee had been formed. That committee will look into the matter.
It is known that the committee members will go to Brazil on January 8. They will talk to the officials of the football association there and look into the complaint. FIFA has banned Brazil’s football federation from making any decisions until January 8. It has also been asked to ensure that there is no third party interference. If that is the case, FIFA can take strict action and even ban Brazil from football.
Earlier, a court in Rio de Janeiro removed Rodríguez and the rest of his committee on allegations of irregularities in the elections of the Brazilian Football Association. The president of Brazil football went to the high court against that order but even there the lower court’s order was upheld.
According to FIFA rules, any form of interference by the government, courts or third parties in the football organization is strictly prohibited. If there is any kind of problem, the football organization has to solve it.
