BNP’s morning-evening hartal is going on

Correspondent, The CNN :

Morning-evening hartal called by BNP is going on demanding cancellation of schedule of 12th National Assembly elections, resignation of government, formation of non-partisan government and release of jailed leaders. The strike started on Tuesday (December 19) from 6 am. The ongoing strike will continue till evening.

In support of the hartal, BNP senior-joint general secretary advocate Ruhul Kabir Rizvi led a protest march and picketing by the party’s leaders and workers. They marched from Shantinagar in the capital towards Rajarbagh at 7 am. At that time, BNP leaders and activists lit fire on the streets and raised various slogans against the government.

Earlier, BNP had called a hartal from 6 am on Monday. But due to the death of the Emir of Kuwait Sheikh Nawaf Al Ahmad Al Sabah, the country announced a one-day (Monday) state mourning, so the strike was postponed by a day to Tuesday.
