Bangladesh wins medal in Asia Cup Archery

Bangladesh won medal in Asia Cup Archery. The red-green team beat the hosts to win bronze in the compound mixed category at the competition held in Baghdad.

Tapu Roy and Meghla gave Bangladesh a bronze medal in the ongoing Asia Cup Archery in Baghdad, Iraq on Saturday (February 24). They got this medal in compound mixed event.

Bangladesh was ahead by 36-34 points in the first set in the compound mixed category held in Iraq. In the next set, the host archers put up a fierce competition. Despite that, the red-green representatives won by 37-36 points. The last two sets were tied at 37-37 and 38-38 points. Tapu Roy and Meghla won the bronze as they were leading by four sets.

Bangladesh’s points stand at 148. On the other hand, Iraq scored 145 points in four sets. Bangladesh defeated Iraq by three scores. A total of six countries participated in the compound mixed category. Neighboring country India became the champion. Indian archers beat Iran to win gold.

Today (February 25) Bangladesh will compete in all individual and recurve team events. The Red-Greens will fight for the bronze medal in the recurve individual men’s category. Apart from this, Siddiqui-Sagar Islam will compete for gold medal in recurve men’s team and mixed category and bronze in women’s team category.
