The current speaker at the meeting of the parliamentary party. Shirin Sharmin Chowdhury has been elected as Speaker again. Besides, it was decided to elect the current Deputy Speaker Shamsul Haque Tuku as Deputy Speaker again. Before this, Awami League President Sheikh Hasina was elected as the leader of parliament.
The election was held on Wednesday (January 10) at the first level of the east block of the Sangsad Bhavan in Sherebangla Nagar of the capital after the oath-taking of the elected members of parliament.
Along with the election of the parliamentary leader, the deputy leader of the parliament has also been elected. Begum Matia Chowdhury, the deputy leader of the 11th National Parliament, has also been elected as the deputy leader of the 12th National Parliament.
In addition, it has been decided to elect Noor-e-Alam Chowdhury Liton, the Chief Whip of the government party in the current 11th Parliament as the Chief Whip in the 12th National Parliament as well. Liton Chowdhury has been elected as the Parliamentary Party Secretary of Awami League.
