On the first day of the selection of nominations for the upcoming 12th National Assembly elections, the nominations of Rangpur 1, 2 and 3 constituencies have been completed, but the nomination papers of 4 candidates, including independent candidate Moshiur Rahman Ranga, were suspended due to inconsistencies in the documents. Later independent candidate Moshiur Rahman declared Ranga’s documents valid.
The process of selection of nominations started from Saturday (December 2) morning in the district administration meeting room and ended at 3:30 pm. Rangpur Deputy Commissioner and Returning Officer Mobaswer Hasan suspended the nomination papers due to inconsistencies in the documents submitted by former Jatiya Party Secretary General Mashiur Rahman Ranga, an independent candidate in Rangpur 1 constituency, 4 independent candidates in Rangpur 2 constituency and 4 candidates in Rangpur 3 constituency. Later Moshiur Rahman Ranga’s papers were declared valid.
District Returning Officer Mobaswer Hasan said that nomination papers for the remaining 3 seats will be checked and selected tomorrow Sunday.
