Commerce State Minister Ahsanul Islam Titu said that the new price of sugar and edible oil will be determined within the next week due to the reduction of duty. He told reporters in his office at the Secretariat on Thursday (February 8).
He also said that the price of oil and sugar is determined by our tariff commission. We will sit down with importers and manufacturers as soon as possible to determine the prices as per the impact of the new duty at a reasonable level.
Regarding the producers and importers, the state minister said, I am calling for the goods which are in transit to be released and marketed quickly. So that the tariff benefit goes to the general consumer level. We will talk to NBR. I will determine the price according to the calculation of the new duty within the next week after calculating when the producers are bringing the goods.
