President Md. Sahabuddin said, Amar Ekushey Book Fair is one of the accessories in the development of our education, culture and history-tradition.
He said that there is no alternative to reading books in building a knowledge-based society. I believe that this month-long book fair and language practice will make an effective contribution to encourage the new generation to read books and practice literature in the current era of information technology.
He said these things in a speech given on the occasion of Amar Ekushey Book Fair on Thursday (February 01).
Stating that the Amar Ekushey Book Fair is an integral part of Bengali culture, the President congratulated Bengali book lovers, readers, publishers, organizers, organizers and all concerned on the occasion of ‘Amar Ekushey Book Fair 2024’ organized by Bangla Academy.
On the eve of the Amar Ekushe Book Fair, he also paid deep respect to the memory of the immortal martyrs in the ‘Great Language Movement’ on February 15.
Md. Sahabuddin said, Amar Ekushe Book Fair is the life fair of Bengalis. Every year during the month of February, this book fair organized by Bangla Academy becomes a unique meeting place with the participation of people from all walks of life including writers-readers-cultural workers.
The President said that the Bangla Academy as the foothold of Bengali literature and culture holds the memory of the great language movement in many ways. Since its inception, Bangla Academy has been playing an uninterrupted role in the pursuit of excellence in Bengali language, literature and culture.
He expressed hope that the Bangla Academy built on the path of language martyrs will become an institution of life for Bengali speaking people. Besides buying books, this fair of Bengali life will spread the inexhaustible interest of culture to everyone through discussions, concerts, exhibitions, cultural events.
He said that the Amar Ekushey Book Fair is an indispensable event for the development and protection of the rights of creative and thoughtful writers in the premises of Bangla Academy. It is my firm belief that ‘Amar Ekushey Book Fair’ will become the bearer of Bengali language, culture, history and tradition by keeping the spirit of the great language movement alive.
The Head of State wished the all-round success of the ‘Amar Ekushey Book Fair and Program 2024’.
