There is no security risk around Ijtema: RAB

RAB Director General M. Khurshid Hossain said that there is no security risk around Ijtema. RAB is keeping a watchful eye so that no self-interested group can tarnish the image of Bangladesh by causing any untoward incident centered on Ijtema. Apart from this, there is no threat of any kind of terrorist attack. Online surveillance has also been kept for this. And the two sides of Ijtema (pro-Saad and pro-Jobair) have been talked to about this so that no unpleasant incident happens.

He said this at a briefing in front of RAB’s control room after visiting Vishwa Ijtema Maidan at 11 am on Wednesday (January 31).

He also said that the incident of harassment of foreign guests last year is being monitored. Strict legal action will be taken against anyone who willfully destroys anything while the first party is conveying the Ijtema Maidan to the second party.

M. Khurshid Hussain, World Ijtema is the second largest gathering of Muslims. Multidimensional security measures have been taken by RAB for the security of the World Ijtema. Theft, robbery, drug and gang activities are closely monitored. Checkposts are being set up at all related points including Kamar Para, North Tower Meer Bazar in Uttara. RAB is working to keep the land, water and air routes safe with RAB patrolling in the Turag river, helicopter patrolling in the air.
