Army Chief General SM Shafiuddin Ahmed said that the election is being held peacefully. Bangladesh Army will perform its duties professionally and impartially as per the request of the commission if there is an atmosphere of violence after the elections.

He said this after voting at the Cantonment Public School and College center in the capital on Sunday (January 7).

The total number of voters in this election is 11 crore 97 lakh. Among them, 6 crore 7 lakh 71 thousand 579 are male, 5 crore 89 lakh 19 thousand 202 are female and the number of third gender voters is 852. Total polling stations are 42 thousand 103. 2 lakh 61 thousand 912 polling booths. Voting is done on ballot paper.

According to the information given by EC, 516 thousand Ansar, 182 thousand 91 police, 46 thousand 876 BGB, 2 thousand 350 Coast Guard and more than 700 RAB will be on patrol around the country. The armed forces will be with them in the polling field. Apart from this, members of the Armed Police Battalion will also be in the field. Each center will have 15 to 17 security personnel.
