Awami League candidate of Barisal-4 constituency Shammi Ahmed has again applied to the chamber court to regain his candidacy for the 12th National Assembly elections.
On Thursday (December 21), he applied to the relevant branch of the Appellate Division of the Supreme Court. Today Chamber Justice M. The hearing of the application will be held in the court of Inayetur Rahim.
Earlier, the Chamber Court of Appellate Division rejected the writ of Awami League candidate for Barisal-4 constituency Shammi Ahmed against cancellation of candidature on December 19 and upheld the High Court’s order. On December 18, upholding the decision of the Election Commission, Shammi’s writ was dismissed by Justice Md. High Court Bench of Iqbal Kabir and Justice SM Moniruzzaman.
It should be noted that Pankaj Debnath, an independent candidate and current Member of Parliament, filed a complaint against Shammir Ahmed for dual citizenship. EC canceled Shammi’s candidature on December 15 after the hearing.
