Home Ministry will not allow gatherings from December 18

On the occasion of the upcoming 12th National Assembly elections, no meetings and programs of political parties will be allowed from next Monday (December 18) till the end of the elections.

On Thursday (December 14), a circular was published from the Public Security Department of the Ministry of Home Affairs. Habibul Hasan, senior assistant secretary of the ministry, signed it.

The notification also states that from December 18 till the end of the polling period, all parties are to be prevented from taking up and implementing any type of meeting, assembly or any other type of political program that may hinder the election activities or discourage the voters from voting. Instructions are requested to take necessary action.

Earlier, on December 12, the Election Commission sent an instruction regarding this to the Ministry of Home Affairs.

The directive signed by EC Deputy Secretary Atiyar Rahman said that the polling day of the 12th National Assembly election is scheduled on January 7. Campaigning for rival candidates will begin from December 18. From December 18 until the end of the polling period, it is recommended to prevent everyone from accepting and implementing any type of meeting, rally or any other type of political program that may hinder the election activities, discourage the voters from voting.
