The Election Commission has dismissed the appeal against cancellation of nomination papers against Jatiya Party (Japa) candidate General Secretary Mujibul Haque Chunnu. By doing this, he regained the validity of the nomination paper.
Chief Election Commissioner Kazi Habibul Awal and other Election Commissioners gave this verdict after hearing the appeal at the Election Building on Wednesday (December 13) afternoon.
On December 8, Awami League nominated candidate Nasirul Islam Khan filed an appeal seeking cancellation of Chunnu’s nomination in Kishoreganj-3 constituency. On December 8, at the Election Commission building in Agargaon, he appealed for the cancellation of Chunnu’s candidature. Mujibul Haque Chunnu is the current Member of Parliament for this constituency.
Earlier, after submitting the nomination papers, the nomination papers of Jatiya Party General Secretary were declared valid and Nasirul’s nomination papers were declared invalid. The decision was taken by the EC as he could not show the papers of exemption from the criminal case.
