Two people were killed in a road accident at Kaliakore in Gazipur. The accident took place at Pollibiddut area of the upazila around 4 am on Sunday.
The deceased are Abu Taher (45) son of Abdul Quddus of Panchbaria village of Sonaimuri upazila of Noakhali district, Ibrahim (36) son of Abdul Hai Patwari of Kalyanpur village of Rupaichra area of Laxmipur Sadar upazila.
According to police and local sources, a Dhaka-bound private car reached the rural power area of Kaliakair upazila at around 4 am on Sunday, lost control of the car and collided with the road divider. Two people in the car were killed on the spot.
Shahadat Hossain, officer-in-charge of the Naojor Highway police station, said that two people were killed on the spot when a private car collided with an island on the highway due to thick fog. The body was recovered and brought to the police station. An investigation is underway to find out the cause of the accident.
