High Court did not grant bail to Mirza Fakhrul

The High Court did not grant bail to BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir in the case of attack on the residence of the Chief Justice.

Justice Md. on Thursday (December 7). A High Court bench comprising Saleem and Justice Shahed Nooruddin denied him bail. Also Mirza issued a 7-day rule asking why Fakhrul will not be granted bail.

Earlier, Mirza Fakhrul’s lawyers applied for bail on December 3. Later on December 4 Justice Md. A High Court bench headed by Salim fixed the hearing on Thursday.

On October 28, during the general meeting of BNP, the police filed a case in Ramna police station on the charge of attack and vandalism at the residence of the Chief Justice. Apart from Mirza Fakhrul, 59 leaders and activists including Mirza Abbas, a member of the party’s standing committee, were accused in the case. The next day, on October 29, Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir was arrested from his home in Gulshan.
