42 appeals to get back candidature

Own Correspondent, The CNN : 42 political parties and independent candidates who were rejected in the selection of nomination papers in the 12th National Assembly elections today started appeals to the Election Commission (EC) to regain their candidature.

Filed the appeal on Tuesday (December 5). Most of them are independent candidates. Most of the invalidated nominations had complications with the signatures of 1 percent of voters.

The process of submitting the appeal application started in 10 temporary camps in the morning in front of the Election Commission building in Agargaon of the capital. This process will continue till December 9. The verdict will be announced through the appeal hearing from December 10 to December 15. Yesterday Monday (December 4) on the occasion of the twelfth national parliament election, the EC issued a notice regarding filing, hearing and settlement of appeals.

According to the EC, if a candidate is aggrieved by the order of the Returning Officer against the cancellation and acceptance of nomination papers, an appeal must be filed within five days after the selection of nomination papers.
