The judgment of the Labor Appellate Tribunal is overturned

Own Correspondent, The CNN :

The High Court overturned the judgment of the Labor Appellate Tribunal to pay 103 crore taka to the workers of Dr. Muhammad Yunus’ organization Grameen Kallyan. At the same time, the court also declared the judgment of the lower Labor Appellate Tribunal invalid. However, the judgment also mentioned that 106 workers can go to the labor court if they want.

On Thursday (November 30), the double bench headed by Justice Zafar Ahmed rejected the rule and gave this order.

Earlier, the Appellate Division directed the High Court to dispose within two months of the ruling of the Labor Appellate Tribunal to pay dividends to 106 workers sacked from Dr. Yunus’ organization Grameen Kalyan as per the Labor Act.

On April 3, the Labor Appellate Tribunal ruled that 106 workers sacked from Grameen Kallyan should pay the company’s dividend according to the Labor Act. Later, Dr. Yunus appealed to the High Court challenging the verdict. In view of his application, the High Court issued a stay on the judgment of the Labor Appellate Tribunal on May 30.
