US Ambassador to Bangladesh Peter De Haas sat in a meeting with Foreign Secretary Masood Bin Momen. The meeting started on Thursday (November 30) at 11 am at Rashtriya Guest House Padma.
This is the first time Peter Haas is meeting with someone at the highest level of government since his vacation. Before going on leave, he delivered US Assistant Secretary of State Donald Lu’s letter to Awami League, BNP and Jatiya Party leaders. In that letter, the United States called for free and fair elections free of violence and unconditional dialogue in Bangladesh. However, it is not yet known officially what the meeting was about today.
Incidentally, Peter Haas returned to Dhaka last Monday after spending 11 days off. Earlier on November 16, he left Dhaka on a Sri Lankan Airlines flight.
