BNP’s 48-hour strike is going on

A 48-hour strike called by the BNP and like-minded parties is going on in protest against the announcement of the schedule for the 12th National Assembly elections. This hartal started from 6 am on Sunday (19 November) and will continue till 6 am on Tuesday.

Law and order forces are on alert throughout the country including the capital to avoid vandalism during the strike. However, at least 11 vehicles including trains were set on fire the night before the hartal. No casualties were reported.

Earlier, BNP Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi called for a strike in a virtual press briefing on Thursday (November 16) afternoon.
