The date of Biswa Ijtema, the second largest public gathering of Muslims on the banks of Tongir’s Turag, has been fixed. Next year also the World Ijtema will be held in two phases. The first phase of Ijtema will be held from 2nd to 4th February 2024 and the second phase from 9th to 11th February 2024. Interior Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal informed the Biswa Ijtema after the meeting at the Ministry of Home Affairs at the Secretariat on Wednesday (November 15).

He also said that in the first phase of the Ijtema, people from the side of Maulana Zubair will participate in the Ijtema. The three-day Ijtema will begin on February 2 and end on February 4. The second phase of Ijtema will begin on February 9. It will continue till February 11. People from Wasek side will participate in it.

The World Ijtema of Tablighi Jamaat has been held since 1967 on the banks of the Tongi Turag river. Biswa Ijtema has been held in two phases since 2011.

In 2018, the organizers of the World Ijtema were divided over the speech of Maulana Saad, a famous Maulana of India and the top rabbi of Tablighi. Later two groups are participating in Ijtema in two phases. One group is led by the followers of Maulana Saad of India and the other is led by the followers of Maulana Jubair of the Ulama of Bangladesh.
