The US Ambassador to Dhaka, Peter Haas, has requested a meeting with the senior leaders of the country’s three main political parties, Awami League, BNP and Jatiya Party. He requested this meeting on the upcoming election issue of Bangladesh.
On Monday (November 13), the spokesperson of the US Embassy in Dhaka, Stephen Ebely, gave this information in a statement.
It further stated that the United States wants free and fair elections in a peaceful manner. The United States calls on all parties (political parties) to refrain from violence and exercise restraint. The United States does not support any political party. The United States calls on all parties to engage in dialogue without preconditions.
The statement noted that the US visa policy (TRC) will remain in effect against those who undermine the democratic election process.
