Baghair fish weighing 28 kg has been caught in Yamuna river of Sirajganj. Which has been sold for 31 thousand rupees. Although there is a ban on catching and selling this extinct fish, the fish is sold openly.

On Tuesday (November 7), 15 people bought the fish for Tk 31,000 in Mashipur Sarishakol Madrasa market of Shahjadpur upazila. At this time, locals flocked to have a look at the fish.

Hazrat Ali, a fish trader in Mashipur Sarishakol market, said that every day we buy different types of fish from the Yamuna river at wholesale prices and sell them in this market. But this time I sold the biggest fish. Baghair fish was taken by 15 people for 31 thousand taka.

Adam Sheikh, the lessee of the market, said that big fish from the Yamuna river are often found in this market. As the price is high, some people buy together and share. We do not know that the sale of this fish is prohibited, we have never heard.

Sirajganj District Fisheries Officer Shahinur Rahman said that although there is a ban on catching and selling this extinct fish, the fishermen caught fish and sold it immediately in the local market. Fishermen have been informed not to catch this extinct fish.
