Speaker of the National Parliament. Shirin Sharmin Chowdhury said, politics is an integral part of my life. Since childhood, when politicians used to come to our house, I used to listen to their discussions. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is the inspiration of my political life.
He said these things in a discussion titled ‘Empowering Women in the Public Sector: Breaking Barriers, Breaking Nations’ organized by TED-X Gulshan at the Aloki Convention Center in Tejgaon in the capital on Saturday (November 4).
He also said that my best gift from my family is education. Parents educated our two sisters. They taught us justice-equality-equality which helped us overcome all obstacles. It is my lifelong dream to serve the country as a lawyer, a politician and above all as a woman. My father was a confidant of Bangabandhu. He was the first elected president of the Chhatra League and also served as the general secretary of Bangabandhu. So my involvement with politics is from childhood.
