560 people, including Bangladeshis, have been arrested for the crime of living illegally in Selangor, Malaysia.

The immigration department conducted the operation on Friday (January 19). 455 immigration officers, 60 General Operation Force (GOF) personnel, 12 National Registration Department officials and five Civil Defense Force personnel participated in it.

Immigration Department director-general Datuk Ruslin Jusoh said the detainees were citizens of Bangladesh, Myanmar, Nepal, Indonesia, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, India, Cambodia, Sierra Leone and Cameroon.

He also said that about 80 percent of the residents of Tasik Kesuam Baiduri Apartments in Bandar are foreigners. Many of the foreigners living here were allegedly involved in various crimes. The detainees have been sent to the Immigration Depot in Bukit Jalil for further investigation.
