11 people sentenced to death in sensational Moazzem murder case in Joypurhat

The court sentenced 11 people to death in the case of the sensational school student Moazzem’s murder in Joypurhat. Also each is fined 50 thousand rupees.

Additional Sessions Judge-2 Judge Abbas Uddin gave the verdict on Wednesday (January 31) at noon.

The convicts are Bedarul Islam Bedin, Sarwar Hossain Sumon, Moshiur Rahman Ershad, Manowar Hossain Manchur, Nazrul Islam, Rana, Shahi, Tutul, Sujan, Rahim, W. Their houses are in different areas of Joypurhat.

According to the details of the case, on the afternoon of June 28, 2002, Moazzem Hossain, son of Fazlur Rahman of Pramanikpara, Jaipurhat city, left the house. On that day, the accused picked up Moazzem from Chitra Cinema Hall area. Moazzem was then seriously injured by the accused with sharp weapons and sticks near a graveyard in VT area. Later left him unconscious under a mango tree on Jamalganj Road. Moazzem died after being taken to the hospital on the day of the incident.

In this incident, the victim’s father filed a murder case at the Sadar police station the next day. On October 29, 2003, Mahbub Alam, the investigating officer of the case filed the charge sheet in the court. After a long hearing of this case, the learned court announced the verdict today.
